Massage for computer-related neck and shoulder pain

Hours at the screen, the head creeping forward, the shoulders climbing without you noticing. In Thailand it has a name: office syndrome, and it's what we see most in the studio. We work the neck, shoulders and upper back to release exactly those areas.

What "office syndrome" is

It's the tension pattern office work leaves behind: a stiff neck, loaded shoulders, a locked-up upper back. It starts quietly, with discomfort that shows up by the end of the day, and little by little it becomes routine. Tension doesn't disappear on its own: it builds up.

Signs you're due for a massage

You turn your neck and it cracks. Your shoulders feel glued to your ears by the end of the day. That pressure at the base of your skull keeps showing up more often. If that sounds familiar, take our 1-minute online test, mark where you feel it on the body map, and we'll tell you which session fits you.

How we work the session

We focus on the neck, shoulders, traps and upper back, with firm pressure and stretches from the Thai tradition that open the chest and give your posture room to breathe. Before we start we ask where you feel it and what pressure works for you. When we're done, we tell you what we found, no drama and no medical promises.

How to prepare for your visit

Come in something you can easily lift or open around the neck and shoulders; if you're coming straight from the office, there's no need to change. Tell us if you wear screen glasses or use a device for many hours, it helps us understand the pattern. No fasting or special preparation needed: you can come on your lunch break without any issue. Afterwards, avoid carrying a heavy bag or backpack on one shoulder for the rest of the day, so you don't lose the effect of the session.

Who it's not suitable for

If your neck pain comes with tingling or loss of strength in the arm, strong dizziness, or you've had a recent whiplash injury, check with your doctor first: it may need a medical assessment before a massage. It's also not a substitute for physiotherapy if you have a diagnosed injury; in that case, tell us and we'll adapt the session, or tell you honestly if today isn't the day.

How it's different from a full-body deep tissue massage

This session focuses only on the neck, shoulders and upper back, the typical office-work area, with a shorter duration designed to fit a break. The full-body deep tissue massage also works the lower back and legs, with longer sessions. If your discomfort is only in the upper area, this session goes straight to the point; if you feel tightness across your whole back, the full deep tissue massage is the option.

How often to come back

If your job isn't going to change (long hours at a screen), coming back every two or three weeks tends to show much more than an occasional isolated session. Some people build it in as a fixed break every fortnight. We're in the Eixample, near the Sagrada Família and a short walk from the metro, open every day 11:00 to 22:00, so it's easy to fit in during the week.
